Moses Corriher and his wife, Geneva, built this house around 1902 shortly after they purchased the surrounding 150-acre farmland in southern Rowan County.
The two-story, wood frame farmhouse began rather modestly but was expanded as the Corriher family grew. The house remains in the Corriher family. Grandson of Moses and Geneva, Darryl Corriher and his wife, Barbara, have raised their family here as well. “We enjoy living in this house because of its history, connections to our family’s heritage, and its beautiful setting,” said Corriher.
While it has been remodeled, the character of the farmhouse remains intact. The Corrihers resisted replacing the original claw-footed bathtub, though they made other changes. The house’s hardwood floors, fireplace bricks, beadboard ceilings and exposed beams are original to the house. Large windows overlook the nearby fields. This lovely country house was first on tour in 2016 and again virtually in 2021.
